Drawing & Painting
Painting and drawing are two separate art forms that share a common ground: two-dimensional visual artistic production. Painting predominantly takes place on canvas, wood, or a copper surface, whereas drawing most often takes place on paper.
Drawing typically involves making marks on a surface with a pencil, pen, or other drawing tool to create lines, shapes, and forms. Drawings can range from quick sketches and studies to detailed and finished works of art. Some artists use drawing as a way to plan and prepare for painting or other forms of art, while others focus exclusively on drawing as a finished art form.
Painting, on the other hand, involves applying pigments, typically in the form of paint, to a surface using a brush, palette knife, or other tool. Painting can be done on a variety of surfaces, including canvas, paper, and wood. Paintings can be representational or abstract, and can be created using a wide range of techniques, including watercolor, oil painting, acrylic painting, and gouache.
