Pietà (after Delacroix) by Vincent van Gogh

The Pietà is a religious painting that depicts the Virgin Mary holding the dead body of Jesus Christ. Van Gogh’s version of the painting is much more somber than Delacroix’s. The colors are muted, and the figures are rendered in a more realistic style.
